Welding Technology Advanced, PSAV Certificate

The Welding Technology Advanced, PSAV Certificate program provides a second level of technical training for graduates of the Welding Technology, PSAV Certificate (5023) program at TCC, or for graduates of another Florida state college or technical college welding PSAV program. This program emphasizes advanced welding skills in pipe and shielded metal arc welding, pipe fitting fabrication, and gas tungsten arc welding. It also prepares welders for emerging technologies including, but not limited to, robotics, hybrid laser arc and adaptive welding.

Program Purpose:
This advanced program provides a second level of technical training for graduates of the Welding Technology, PSAV Certificate (5023)  program at TCC, or for graduates of another Florida state college or technical college welding PSAV program (1170 hours or 1050 hours).

This program emphasizes advanced welding skills in pipe and shielded metal arc welding, pipe fitting fabrication, and gas tungsten arc welding. It also prepares welders for emerging technologies including, but not limited to, robotics, hybrid laser arc and adaptive welding.   

Program Length:
750 clock hours

Admission Requirements:

  • Graduation from a Florida state college or technical college welding PSAV program (1170 hours or 1050 hours)
  • Standard high school diploma or GED diploma.
  • Must be at least 17 years of age and must turn 18 years of age before achieving OCP A-Welder, Helper in order to be eligible for hire by industry

Note: Students must take the Test of Adult Basic Education (TABE) within the first semester of enrollment in the program or present evidence of allowable substitute. (Learn more .) In order to successfully complete the program, students must earn a score of 9.0 or higher in all three areas of the TABE (mathematics, language, reading).
